How to Wash Printed T-Shirts
Without Fading
Your favourite graphic tee's biggest enemy is not wear — it is the washing machine. Improper washing fades prints, cracks graphics and ruins vibrancy. Follow these steps and your tees will look brand new for years.
Step 1: Turn Inside Out
The single most important step. Turning inside out protects the print surface from friction and abrasion every wash. Do this every single time without exception.
Step 2: Cold Water Only (30°C Max)
Hot water breaks down screen print and DTG inks rapidly. Cold water preserves both ink and cotton fibres. Always wash at 30°C or lower.
Step 3: Mild Detergent — No Bleach Ever
Use mild liquid detergent only. Bleach and optical brighteners degrade print inks instantly. Never use bleach on printed tees — ever.
Step 4: Gentle Cycle Only
High spin speeds cause friction that damages prints. Use the delicate or gentle cycle at low spin speed. If handwashing, soak and gently agitate — never scrub the print directly.
Step 5: Air Dry in Shade
UV light fades colour fast. Always air dry in shade. Never use a tumble dryer — heat cracks and peels prints. Dry flat or hang from the body, not shoulders.
